UUA Common Read 2014-2015

Reclaiminc Prophetic WitnessEach year the Unitarian Universalist Association suggests a timely book for members and friends of all congregations to read and discuss. This year’s Common Read is Reclaiming Prophetic Witness: Liberal Religion in the Public Square by Paul Rasor (Skinner House Books, 2013). In this clarion call to action, Rasor dispels the myth that conservative Christianity is the only valid religious voice in our national social policy, and invites Unitarian Universalists to explore and claim our contribution, as religious liberals, to the pressing moral and ethical debates of our contemporary world.

There will be a 90-minute discussion of the book on Sunday, June 7, at 1:00 PM in the Meeting Room. Rev. Josh will be the resource person and Hal Reed, a member of the Denominational Affairs Committee, will be the facilitator. This promises to be an interesting and lively session and light refreshments will be served. The book can be obtained through the UUA Bookstore (uuabookstore.org) and most other booksellers or your local library. It is also available as an eBook. The discussion is open to all even if you don’t get a chance to read the book. Contact Hal Reed if you have questions.
