- For the Love of...Place.
< To Upcoming Services Jan 7, 2024 For the Love of...Place. Guest Minister: The Rev. Alison Cornish. For each of us, there are places that hold a special place in our hearts. We love them because of what we have experienced there, or the discoveries we have made, or even the relationships we have with the more-than-human who also inhabit that place. But is it possible for us to experience love from a place as well for it? What might that feel like? What liberation might it offer? - Nominating and Leadership Development Committee
< Back Nominating and Leadership Development Committee Recruit leaders for vacant and acting positions. Use the Newsletter, eBlast and other forms of outreach to advertise vacant leader positions. Potentially create a visual platform displaying committees and leadership opportunities. Based on surveys and assessments of needs within the UUSE community, determine training and workshop needs and set a schedule for offerings. NLDC will work with the Policy Board and Program Council to determine these needs and schedule accordingly. As we attend Board and Program Council meetings, we can see what workshops or retreats would be helpful. Convene at least one annual in-person leader retreat to provide committees with knowledge and tools to conduct their meetings efficiently and effectively using best practices. Review relevant administrative procedures and hand out important organizational material. Facilitate a May/June transition between outgoing and incoming leaders. Meet with each committee to understand their challenges and responses and from where they draw strength and collaborate with them to broaden access to leadership from more diverse segments of the congregation. Submit at least one article annually in the newsletter and eblast to promote committee involvement as a channel to express one’s gifts. Potentially do a pulpit editorial. Endeavor to include a wider range of people, especially marginalized persons, into the circle of leaders. Offer support to leaders and their committees to work cooperatively, inclusively and effectively to create an expanded and more diverse community. Updated October 4, 2024 at 7:28:51 PM
