Author of the book And Freedom Became a Public Square: Political, Social and Religious Overviews on the Arab Christians and the Arabic Spring, Dr. Najib Awad will bring his unique perspective of growing up in a multi-religious, multi-cultural, multi-ethnic world to a presentation/discussion about the ramifications of the Arab Spring with a particular focus on Syria. The presentation will take place on Sunday afternoon, May 19, beginning at 1:15 p.m. Dr. Awad is a liberal Protestant, a believer in universal salvation who shares many of our UU views. He is the Associate Professor of Christian Theology and Director of International PhD Programs at Hartford Seminary.
