Kristallnacht Commemoration

Unitarian Universalist Society: East members and friends gathered with neighbors to remember, with music, dance and ritual, two nights in 1938 when the terror of the Holocaust began and the streets of Germany were strewn with broken glass. We stood in solidarity with one another, affirming our life-giving diversity at the Kristallnacht Commemoration on Sunday, November 11th at 5:30pm at Hartford’s Charter Oak Cultural Center.

Our minister The Reverend Joshua M. Pawelek was a featured speaker and our choir, the Universal Voices performed several songs. For the text of Rev. Pawelek’s homily click here. For the text of Rev. Pawelek’s poem, “Sharp Shards Glistening,” click here.
