Chalice Lighting and Opening Words
“We Light This Chalice for Renewal of Our Faith”
Rev. Suzelle Lynch
(Permission granted through UU Ministers Worship Collaborative FB page)
Each time we light the chalice
We renew our commitment to our Unitarian Universalist faith.
With the spark of a match, we make it new again —
as fresh and surprising as the first day
we encountered this spiritual community
and realized we were home.
We light this chalice for renewal of our faith.
Opening Hymn
“May Nothing Evil Cross This Door”
#1 in Singing the Living Tradition
words by Louis Untermeyer, music by Robert N. Quaile
led by Jeannine Westbrook
May nothing evil cross this door,
and may ill fortune never pry about
these windows; may the roar
and rain go by.
By faith made strong, the rafters will
withstand the battering of the storm.
This hearth, though all the world grow chill,
will keep you warm.
Peace shall walk softly through these rooms,
touching our lips with holy wine,
till every casual corner blooms
into a shrine.
With laughter drown the raucous shout,
and, though these sheltering walls are thin,
may they be strong to keep hate out
and hold love in.

Offering
The recipient of our March community outreach offering is the Lutz Children’s Museum. Many of you are familiar with the Lutz Children’s Museum, which is truly a Manchester treasure. Originally formed in 1953, it primarily serves children ages 2 to 10 and focuses on local history, animal welfare, and many other kinds of exhibits you won’t find in your typical children’s museum.
