Are you considering going to General Assembly (GA) in 2012? It’s not too early to start planning for the largest annual Unitarian Universalist event.

If you are thinking about going, you may want to consider being a UUS:E delegate.  You can be a delegate and still participate in many of the various daily workshops and the fun evening activities!

What does it mean to be a delegate? As a delegate you would be representing our congregation at the Plenary Sessions over the course of the five days.  The time commitment is 1-2 hours daily except for the last two days. The Plenary Sessions on Saturday and Sunday are scheduled so that you won’t miss out on the evening activities on Saturday or the Sunday morning worship and closing celebration.

What’s a Plenary Session and what will I have to do?  This is the business portion of GA. During the Plenary Sessions you will have the opportunity to listen to proposals put forth in a system of “Study Issues”, “Issues of Immediate Witness”, and the key issue that the denomination is going to take a stand on this year. There is a lot of voting involved and a good delegate should be well informed.   If you are considering going to GA in 2012, whether as a delegate or otherwise, please let anyone on the Denominational Affairs Committee know.   Contact the church office at uuse153@sbcglobal.net or call 646-5151.
