Politics and Public AffairsThe Politics and Public Affairs Book Group provides an opportunity for those interested in politics, public policy, and public affairs to share ideas from the perspective of UU principles and values. Conversations are based on books selected for common reading, as well as reviews, columns, articles, and interviews available through the internet.

Regular schedule: Second Tuesday or Wednesday, 3:30-5 p.m.

The Politics and Public Affairs Discussion Group meets in Room 2 (Downstairs). We’ll explore topics of interest.

June 11 meeting will explore the nature of loyalty, conscience, and citizenship, drawing on Edward Snowden’s release of classified National Security Agency documents. Recommended reading:  “Edward Snowden: Patriot or Traitor?”, Vanity Fair, May 2014, and the two-part PBS/Frontline documentary, “The United States of Secrets.” Mr. Snowden will be interviewed by NBC’s Brian Williams tomorrow (Wednesday, May 28) at 10:00 p.m.
