Politics and Public Affairs Book Group

Politics and Public AffairsThe Politics and Public Affairs Book Group provides an opportunity for those interested in politics, public policy, and public affairs to share ideas from the perspective of UU principles and values stimulated by books on these topics.

Second Wednesdays, 3:30-5 p.m.

Next Meeting:  Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in Room 2 at 3:30 p.m. to discuss Thomas B Edsall’s The Age of Austerity — How Scarcity will Remake American Politics (Doubleday, 2012). Edsall is a prize-winning political journalist who explores the moral underpinnings of partisan conflicts and how these divides have created an austerity based on winner-take-all politics. As the book jacket blurb puts it, “His book is an eye-opening, psyche-shivering account of the dire consequences we will face if we do not act now to address our urgent problems and radical divisions.”
