All Services are at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM

June 22: “Dear God, Dear Me”. Do you need to believe in God to pray?  In Buddhism to meditate?  We may talk not only to ourselves, but also address God, our inner Spirit, Nature or Life itself in prayer when we suffer, are grateful, or are awed by beauty.  Johanna Conant will look at how we seek to understand our emotions, our hidden Self, through reflection or deeper practice.  Coordinator: Linda Duncan

June 29:"Changing the Dance." Join us for a service filled with music. Pawel will reflect on his first year as Director of Music, Martha will reflect on being a choir member, and you will join in
singing many hymns of your choice. Coordinators: Pawel Jura and Martha Larson

July 6: “On Faith and National Pride.” This family-centered, multigenerational service will explore the intersections of liberal faith and patriotism. There will be no religious education classes or childcare provided this morning. The service will be followed by a congregational picnic at Northwest Park in Manchester in celebration of Vicki Merriam’s 30th year as Director of Religious Education and Josh Pawelek’s fifth year as minister. Coordinator: the Rev. Josh Pawelek.

Community Outreach Ministry
Charitable Giving for JUNE

As always, thank you for your generosity.“We do not gather our gifts only for ourselves but to share with the larger ommunity.”

Continuing our practice of sharing our gifts with the community beyond our walls, fifty percent (50%) of our Sunday plate collections for the month of June will be split between the Project 100/The Hartford Community Center and True Colors with headquarters in Manchester.

The Project 100/The Hartford Community Center is dedicated to serving the needs of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex community. The center provides meeting space for numerous support groups and social events. It also produces a monthly newsletter of information, resources, and stories of interest to the GLBT community.

True Colors Sexual Minority Youth and Family Services is a not-for-profit organization working to eliminate the stigma associated with sexual and gender minority status and to ensure that the needs of the LGBTI community are competently met by those responsible for education, health, and well-being. True Colors sponsors the largest sexual minority youth conference in the nation.

One half of our cash donations for the month will be split between Project 100/ Hartford Community Center and True Colors. The balance of the cash benefits UUS:E.

Checks (made out to UUS:E) will be treated as follows:

Sunday Service Flowers.  The sign -up sheet for flowers is in a binder on the top of the hearth.  Check off the box that you want either to donate the flowers or take them home.  Contact person is Gail Crook.

YOU’RE INVITED TO LIGHT THE CHALICE!  As a way of building an even stronger sense of community at UUS:E, the Sunday Services Committee and Rev. Josh invite you to volunteer to light the chalice for  a Sunday service.  Any adult can sign up for themselves or a member of their family to have the honor of lighting the chalice for the 9:00 or 11:00 service.  A sign up book will be placed in the lobby next to the flower book.  Please choose a Sunday service and write the name of the person who will light the chalice and if there is a special occasion being commemorated.  It is not necessary to have a special occasion; simply a desire to participate is more than enough to volunteer.  Your name and the occasion, if there is one, will be printed in the order of service for that Sunday.  Join in and participate in this beautiful ritual we have, and help us to continue building our ever growing community!
