Accessibility Committee Request
The Accessibility Committee is looking
to compile a list of all UUS:E members and
friends who know American Sign Language
(ASL). This is so that in the future if Deaf individuals
are interested in or decide to visit UUS:E,
we have a group of people we can refer to who
can communicate with them. If you know ASL
and would like to be added to the list, please contact
the committee chairpersons: Lorraine De-
Freitas
(lorrainedefreitas@sbcglobal.net) or Greg Dupuis
(gdupuis@cox.net).
Thank you.
Large Print UUS:E materials available
Did you know...that starting in February, the Accessiblity Committee in collaboration with Sunday Services, the Membership Committee and the Communications Committee started providing large print copies of the Order of Service at the Welcome Table for all services: Print copies of the current sermon will also be available for anyone who needs to follow along with the speaker during a Sunday Service. As always, copies of previous sermons are available on the fireplace in the lobby or on the UUS:E wsebsite: http://www.uuse.org/htm/past_services/index.html.
These accomodations are to begin to address the needs of our members and friends who are having difficulty fully benefiting from Sunday Services. We already have several large print hymnals---just ask a Greeter for a copy.
Thanks go to the ad hoc Sound System Committee (Deb Walker, Jim Adams, John Crowley, Jane Osborne, Roland Chirico, Cory Clark, Alison Cohen, Nancy Lister and Malcolm Barlow) for brainstorming how to make Sunday Services more audible to all and not spending a huge amount of money!
Finally, the Accessiblity Committee is requesting that the following statement be placed in the Newsletter and on all UUS:E publications, letter, brochures, and other written communications that will be going to all members and friends.
"This publication available in large print and electronic formats. To request an alternate format, please contact UUS:E office at
860-646-5151 or UUSE153@sbcglobal. net. The Accessiblity Committee will work with UUS:E staff and committee members to provide large print and/or electronic copies of print documents to members and friends who need to access written materials in a different kformat.
If you or someone you know needs anything else to access fully Sunday Services, or any other UUS:E, please let the Accessiblity Committee know how we can help: Deb Walker, Chairperson.
